The 3rd Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Summit was held on 27-28 June, in Tabriz, Iran. The Summit was well attended with 400 delegates, including pulmonologists, cardiologists, radiologists, internists, and GPs from Iran.

The opening ceremony saw professor Simonneau, Emeritus Professor at the Paris-Sud University, France, and esteemed PVRI Board member, honored for his prominent and valuable service to PH patients and for promoting the discipline worldwide.

The CTEPH session – Evaluation of CTEPH patients for endarterectomy and management of complications – provided by video conference by Dr. Michael Madani (USA) attracted a strong 400 audience. The second video conference showed Dr. Stefano Barco (Germany) presenting two topics: ‘Prevention of early complications and late consequences after acute pulmonary embolism’ and ‘Use of old and new anticoagulants in the special population (short bowel syndrome, anti-phospholipid syndrome, elderly, pregnancy)’, which were also very popular. The faculty included 12 international speakers from seven countries. Countries represented were:

Belgium
France
Germany
Japan
Turkey
Czech Republic
The United States.

All delegates indicated the PDV learning outcomes will benefit their patients. We would like to thank the three PVRI sponsored speakers for their input and contribution:

Professor Marion Delcroix
Professor Irene Lang
Professor Gerald Simonneau

The Summit Scientific Committee would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the esteemed faculty for making this event a memorable one and hopes to organize another meeting in 2021.
